Shuttle valves and counterbalance valves

A shuttle valve is a type of valve which allows fluid to flow through it from one of two sources. Generally a shuttle valve is used in hydraulic systems. The basic structure of a shuttle valve is like a tube with three openings; one on each end, and one in the middle.Counterbalance valves are used to prevent oil from leaving a cylinder that is holding a load. Without the counterbalance valve, the load would move in an uncontrollable manner if oil pressure is lost for some reason.
